Scott J. Silverman mediates all types of disputes. He has served as a neutral in commercial disputes involving claims alleging breach of contract, fraud, violation of Florida Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices, etc.; employment matters (discrimination (age, pregnancy, race, etc.), tip pooling, employment agreements); personal injury matters (death and serious injury); TCPA; condominium and real property disputes, and maritime cases (Jones Act, maritime negligence, maintenance and cure, etc.) Some disputes are high conflict while others are not. Some cases involve relatively small monetary claims, while others disputes involve tens of millions of dollars. Regardless of the amount or degree of conflict, he remains focused on resolving the dispute.
Arbitration
Scott J. Silverman serves as an arbitrator, both internationally and domestically. He is a
Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) in London, and has presided over arbitrations administered by
JAMS, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), and the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR).
On June 3, 2013, The Miami Herald's Business Monday section wrote, “Scott Silverman, a former circuit court judge, is a big player in the growing use of arbitration in the is city and one of the founding fathers of the Miami office of JAMS, which oversees arbitration cases.”
Chambers and Partners (London) echoed this assessment when it designated Silverman, an international arbitrator, as a "recognized" and "noted" practitioner in its “
2016 USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.” The former judge was just one of thirty international arbitrators included in Chambers' USA publication.
